Fairy Tales, Fables, and Folklore
From oral traditions to the stories we tell our children at night, storytelling has always been a quintessential part of the human experience. Stemming from cultural traditions and mythology, the narratives we are told trace morals, expectations, and histories that reflect values of the modern day. In this exhibit, quintessential fables, folkloric stories, and familiar fairy tales are brought together in a display that demonstrates the importance of storytelling. Presentations of classic books such as La Fontaines Fables, The Jungle Book, and Grimm’s Fairy Tales, are shown as historical timepieces revealing cultural identity, social values, and the power of narrative that affects our views of society today.
